Galilee (gal-uh-lee) The northern region of Palestine. Jesus often traveled and taught about God in cities located in Galilee. Golgotha (gol-guh-thuh) The place of Jesus' crucifixion. The word means "the place of the skull" (Matthew 27.33), probably because it was near a large rock shaped like a human skull. The Latin translation of Golgotha is calvaria, which became Calvary in English.
